Has YouTube Replaced Golf Instruction?

Has YouTube Replaced Golf Instruction?

If just watching YouTube could solve all of a golfer’s problems, then golf lessons would certainly be obsolete! Why pay money when you can get information for free with a few minutes on the internet? However, not all information is equal… or more importantly, accurate for your swing.

Case in point. Search “fix my slice” on YouTube and you will get thousands of results. Which one of those videos is appropriate for your swing direction? Swing speed? Athletic ability? Golfing goals? Of course eventually one of those videos will have great strategies for you… but which one? Do you really want to go with trial and error?

Golf professionals can help you wade through a lot of the information out there, but they are also able to find out your unique goals and tailor their teaching to you. A golfer who slices their driver could have many different goals for what they would consider a “fix”. Some want it to be as close to straight as possible, others just want it just to not slice into the next fairway! And yet others would prefer to switch it all together for a draw. Each of these goals would have a different solution, in addition to everyone's golf swing and commitment level to change and practice time.

This is where a golf professional is able to be a much better resource for your game improvement and progression towards measurable goals, than YouTube.

At The Golf Collective, we start off with a questionnaire and swing analysis where you can detail exactly what your goals are. We are then able to discuss and refine these goals with you, to make a unique path forward. Individualized goal planning is something that YouTube just cannot do, but it is the most important part of making improvement.

Once we have determined what your unique goals are, we are able to schedule on-going lessons to reach the improvement you desire!
