Do You Know Exactly How Far Each Club Goes?

Many golfers overestimate how far their clubs go.

Our motto is "Smart Golf, Better Scores: Where Knowledge Drives Performance" and gap testing is all about providing you with the knowledge about how far each club travels in the air for you to score your best!

A simple example explaining why only having solid contact with the golf ball is not enough:

A golfer is at the 150 yard marker, water in front of the green with a 7 iron in their hand. They hit it, but it ends up in the water short of the green. They struck it perfectly, what happened? Since they only based the clubs disance on hitting shots on the course and the range, they have combined both carry and roll out to the yardage distance this club will go in thier planning. If the water wasn't there the ball may well have bounced and rolled onto the green. If the golfer knew the their 7 iron carried 140 yards and rolled an additional 10 yards, they wouldn't have pulled it out in order to carry the 145 yards needed to get over the water.  Their error was not with thier swing, it was with the lack of knowledge when choosing a club.

Having a better understanding of exactly how far your clubs go gives you more knowledge to select the best club, allowing you more scoring opportunities and a lower score.

Why Is It Call Gap Testing

It refers to the "Gaps" between the club. Knowing exactly how far each club travels allows us to see what the distance between the clubs' distances are, referred to as gaps. If these gaps are too close or too far away equipment changes may be needed. This could include an additional hybrid, wedge, or changing the loft on a 5 wood.

What to Expect

Arrive with your full set of golf clubs, including your glove and golf shoes.

First, you will warm up by hitting a few shots and doing whatever you would normally do before a round.

Then we will get into hitting a minimum of 5 good shots with each club in the bag. Miss-hits happen, but we want to know your average carry and trajectory with well struck golf shots.

Finally, you and your PGA professional will review the data to see exactly how far each club travels, what the gaps between the clubs is, and if there is a different or changed set makeup that will allow you to have a consistant gap between all of your clubs.
